Overview

csRes

The Clisp Studio csRes module is an add-on to the core package (csHost) that makes it easy for you to set-up, control and monitor Dynamic (Cyclic) Resilient Modulus Testing in soil testing laboratories, and collate and output the results in industry standard or your own defined format. There are two standards catered for (either AASHTO T-307-99 or AG:PT-T053-07) and the software has an additional stage for the AG standard.

Create

Dynamic Resilient Modulus Test Setup

Clisp Studio csRes comes with simple test creation and setup using the test specific wizard. Choose the test type you require, select the appropriate Standard and proceed through the steps of the wizard, initially setting up the specimen details and hardware relevant to your Test set up.

Resilient Modulus Setup

Hardware Setup

Because laboratories and research establishments often have numerous Testing Stations with many different Instruments, the Hardware setup screen has been designed with that in mind and will only show you the choices relevant to your selected Test Type, Standard and Installed Hardware.

This enables the user to easily select the right Instrument required for Control or Transducer Input.

For the AG Standard, an additional Permanent Deformation stage is included as shown.

Specimen Details Setup

The 'Dimensions' data setup screen will automatically calculate and display the Specimen’s Area, Volume and Bulk Density from the Sample Length, Diameter, Weight and Particle Density entered by the User.

The 'Moisture' data setup screen will automatically calculate and display the Specimen’s Initial Wet Weight, Dry Dry Weight and the Tin Weight entered by the User.

The 'E-307' data setup screen permits entry of the Piston Rod Diameter and Weight (AASHTO Standard only).

Configure

Dynamic (Cyclic) Resilient Modulus Test Configuration

With Clisp Studio you have complete control of Dynamic Resilient Modulus testing for all stages. Stages can be configured to perform a standards based test or a custom test specific to your exact needs.

Permanent Deformation (AG Standard only)

The Permanent Deformation Stage consists of an ‘Engage’ schedule, followed by three ‘Stress’ schedules, each involving 10,000 cycles at a stress condition of specified repeated deviator stress and static confining stress. The test will be stopped immediately if the Permanent Vertical Strain exceeds the specified percentage.

Resilient Modulus Initial Conditions (AASHTO Standard)

The Initial Conditions permit the sample type to be setup according to the standards section being followed. This allows for selection of the Subgrade Soil or Base/SubBase, together with the appropriate Material Selection Type.

During Pre-Conditioning, the test may be stopped, if the change in the sample's vertical height is less than a predefined amount for a specified number of cycles. Data logging is fixed at 200 data points per 1 Hz Haversine pulse.

Resilient Modulus Stopping Conditions (AASHTO Standard)

You can specify that the stage is stopped either when the Vertical Deformation ratio exceeds a specified level and/or the Permanent Vertical Strain is greater than a specified percentage. There is an option for the specimen to be sheared to failure if required.

Resilient Modulus Initial Conditions (AG Standard)

Initially, this will only have one Stage in the table, but Stages can be added and removed as required using the ‘Add’ and ‘Delete’ buttons.
However, clicking on the ‘Defaults’ button will populate the table with the 66 pre-defined Stages of the AG standard.
The Static Stress level to be maintained throughout can also be specified.

Resilient Modulus Stopping Conditions (AG Standard)

The test will be stopped if the Permanent Vertical Strain exceeds the specified percentage that you have specified.

Quick Shear Stage Setup

The optional ‘Quick Shear’ Stage Initial Conditions enable you to ramp the Axial Strain at a specified percentage/min whilst logging data at an input rate.

The Shear stage is stopped when the Axial Strain extends beyond a specified percentage and/or the Peak Stress drops by a defined percentage - allowing for an optional input temporary percentage drop.

Test Execution and Results

         Resilient live data

Live Test Views

For all stages, we offer predefined live data views to observe the most commonly measured variables and calculated data for the specimen being tested, whilst the Test Stage is running. This enables you to keep a close on eye on the measured parameters to check that everything is progressing well. You can also customize the desired Live Data from the list of variables that are relevant to that particular stage.

Live Graphical and Table Views

For all stages, Clisp Studio enables you to monitor the most commonly measured parameters and expected results as the Test progresses. You can also customize the desired Graphs and Tables from the list of variables that are relevant to that particular stage if required.

General Stage Results

All Stages provide results views, graphs and tables as summarised in the table below.

Data Export and Import

Clisp Studio has the ability to export the entire Test to MS Excel for further data manipulation. The Test can also be exported to a script file which can be imported when creating a new Test if desired.

This enables Tests from the current or older versions of Clisp Studio to be cloned or even rerun if required. This facility is extremely useful for Test exchange between laboratories or for investigation of an issue by VJ Tech.
